This is a beautiful Frank Holton Clarke model cornet in the Key of Bb. The Serial #63568 indicates it was built in 1929. The instrument is gold plated, and the plating is in pretty good condition for its age. There is ornate floral engraving starting at the bell flare, going all the way up the bell stem. There is also ornate engraving inside the bell flare. The cornet was just professionally cleaned, receiving all new synthetic valve washers and was pressure tested for leaks. The valves and slides move freely, but the valves do have some compression wear (common for an almost 100 year old instrument).
The leadpipe was replaced by our shop in 2018. We had our friend (and vintage brass expert) Mark Metzler fabricate a replica leadpipe to match the dimensions of the original pipe. The main tuning slide crook was replaced with a matching tapered crook due to corrosion in the original crook. We swapped over the original water key parts as well. The 1st valve casing thumb hook is broken off at the top. There appears to be a patch on the top 3rd slide outer tube. The 3rd tuning slide crook appears to have been sealed on the outside (possible leaks?).
Includes a hardshell case, lyre mount and lyre. DOES NOT INCLUDE A MOUTHPIECE.
